🌷Spring Has Officially Entered the Chat (And Yes… It Brought 60s With It)
The Haswell Quick-Cast | March 20th, 2026 | Chief Meteorologist Rob Haswell
Good morning Quick-Casters!
We made it! Spring has officially clocked in, and after months of winter acting like it owns the place, we’re finally getting a little temperature glow-up. Today is your gentle warm-up act, tomorrow is the headliner (hello 60s 👀), and yes… Sunday will try to humble us again because this is Wisconsin and we can’t have nice things for too long.
Grab your coffee, maybe some ravioli (that’ll make sense later), and let’s dig in!

🎉 TODAY IS ALSO…
📖 National Storytelling Day AND 🍝 National Ravioli Day
So go ahead… Eat pasta and tell dramatic stories about how you “survived winter.”
We will not fact-check you.
🧠 Today in NERD-Story
Because weather is cool… but weather history? Cooler.
1916: Alfred Einstein submits his Theory of General Relativity (casual Tuesday flex)
1948: Juneau, Alaska gets buried under 32.5 inches of snow 😳
1958: Morgantown, PA says “hold my shovel” with 38 inches of snow
1970: NATO 1 communications satellite launches (hello, modern connectivity!)
2012: Milwaukee hits a record 83°… in March… because chaos
🌸 What Is the Vernal Equinox?
Today at 9:46 AM, we hit the Spring (Vernal) Equinox—and this is where things get a little cosmic ✨
The sun crosses the celestial equator, meaning both hemispheres get nearly equal sunlight. Nobody’s playing favorites today.
👉 Day and night are basically equal
👉 The sun rises due east and sets due west (one of only TWO days a year this happens)
👉 From here on out? More daylight than darkness
And yes… that’s your official permission slip to start saying:
“It feels like spring.”
(You’re finally correct.)
Also fun fact: “Equinox” literally means “equal night”. Spoiler Alert: That’s not actually accurate in our areas because of our latitude. Equal day and night is called “Equilux” is drawn from the Latin terms for equal (equi) and light (lux). That was March 17th for us this year.
🌎 OTHER WEATHER DRAMA
Because somewhere, the atmosphere is always being extra:
🔥 Record heat continues out West (summer is early overachieving)
🔥 Fire danger ramps up across the High Plains
❄️ Wintry weather still hanging on in the northern Great Lakes & New England
Meanwhile here? We’re vibing… cautiously.
🌙 MOON PHASE
Waxing Crescent 🌒 (3% full) | 🌕 Next Full “Pink Moon”: April 1
Yes… April Fool’s Day. The moon has jokes.
⏳ COUNTDOWN CORNER
☀️ 93 days until SUMMER | June 21 at 3:24 AM
💬 Until Next Time…
Stay warm, stay cool, stay dramatic—whatever the forecast calls for 😎
