The Haswell Quick-Cast | February 26th, 2026 | Chief Meteorologist Rob Haswell
Good morning Quick-Casters!
Mother Nature is serving up a little sunshine appetizer before the weekend weather slaps the plate right off the table. It’s mild, it’s bright, it’s giving “maybe I don’t hate winter anymore” vibes but…
Don’t get attached.

🥪 National Toast Day AND 👖 Levi Strauss Day
Which means you are legally allowed to wear denim while aggressively buttering toasted sourdough. This is simple science.
🧠 Today in NERD-Story
• 1912: Over a foot of snow buried Milwaukee (12.5”) while Madison picked up 11.5”. See? We could have it worse.
• 1919: Grand Canyon National Park was officially established. Big hole. Massive vibes. 10/10 would recommend.
• 1963: NASA announced Venus clocks in around 800°F. So next time you complain about 32°, perspective.
• 2000: Canada launched the GEODESIC experiment to study the Northern Lights. Because even auroras need a research team.
Nerd level: Elevated. 🌌
🌕 March Full Moon:
Worm Moon + Blood Moon Combo
The Full Worm Moon peaks Tuesday morning, March 3 at 5:38 A.M., and this year it comes with bonus content: a Total Lunar Eclipse!
The eclipse reaches its greatest point at 5:33 A.M., just minutes before peak full moon. During totality, Earth’s shadow turns the Moon a coppery red or orange glow. That’s your classic Blood Moon moment.
No telescope needed. No fancy gear. Just you, the sky, and maybe a warm beverage if Wisconsin decides to act like Wisconsin.
During a total lunar eclipse, Earth slides between the Sun and Moon. Our planet’s shadow slowly darkens the Moon and filters sunlight in a way that gives it that dramatic red tint.
It’s safe to watch with the naked eye. No squinting required. Just vibes.
🏡 Mild Day DIY:
Spring Maintenance Power Move
Friday’s near 60° warmth is your window of opportunity.
Here’s your homeowner flex for a mild day:
Clean out your gutters and downspouts.
Winter debris + spring melt = water problems.
Check for ice damage. Make sure water can flow freely away from your foundation.
It’s not glamorous. It is wildly satisfying. And your future self will thank you during April downpours.
Adulting level of excellence unlocked.
⏳ COUNTDOWNS
